Through my professional career, I have years of experience of managing people, successfully handled grievances of staff members and even helped with a social security investigation. I have interviewed and hired many people, dealt with disciplinary procedures and set budgets for my department.
So...
Am I tough enough? Yes
Will I work hard? Yes
Can I see things from a new perspective? Yes
Is listening to local people important to me? Yes
Do I have a track record to prove it? Yes
As the Police and
Crime Commissioner, I will involve as many people and groups in making
decisions, setting priorities, budgets and targets as possible. I will provide
the important link between Police and Community.
Talk about tough, I just remember when we were in Brazil and a rather menacing man kept staring at our group making us feel really uncomfortable. You spoke first to him and then to hotel security. This was after you had told us to be careful as the crime levels were high in the city and you could never be quite sure who was carrying a gun. In spite of this it didn't deter you from dealing with the situation and ensuring that we felt safe. I wish you all the best, as from a first-hand experience I know how tough you can be when people's feeling of security is in the balance. - Christina A
